2026 LLWS Opening Round Matchups

Games are played at two stadiums inside the Little League International Complex in South Williamsport: Howard J. Lamade Stadium (main stadium – hosts the US bracket and Championship Game) and Little League Volunteer Stadium (hosts most International bracket games). Both fields have 225-foot fences.

How Teams Qualify for the LLWS
Every team in Williamsport takes the same long road. Here is an exact step-by-step guide.

Step 01: Register with a local Little League
Players aged 10-12 join a chartered Little League in their town. Over 5,000 leagues exist across 80+ countries worldwide.
Step 02: Get picked for the All-Star team
Each summer, every league selects its best players. This hand-picked all-star squad represents the league going forward.

All-star teams compete against nearby leagues. One district winner moves on; everyone else goes home.

LLWS RULES & FORMAT
The Little League World Series 2026 follows official youth baseball rules designed for fair and competitive play among all teams. Each game is played with players aged 10 to 12 years, ensuring balanced competition between all participating regions and countries.

Little League World Series games are played over six innings instead of nine. Pitchers also follow strict usage limits during the tournament. A player cannot throw more than 85 pitches in one day. Catchers who work four or more innings cannot pitch later that same day.
Extra innings start with a runner already on second base. Players must be 10 to 12 years old, and officials verify age at every level. Fields use 60-foot basepaths and a 46-foot mound, smaller than MLB’s standard dimensions.
