For Ryde, it marks the first time in club history that they have reached Williamsport. The league has held a Little League charter since 2008. After 18 years, they finally step onto the Lamade Stadium diamond this August in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

For Australia as a country, it is the 12th overall LLWS appearance since 2013. Six of the previous 11 Australian trips came from Sydney-based leagues. Ryde carries that pattern forward, representing New South Wales on the sport’s biggest youth stage.

How Ryde Won the 2026 Australia Region Championship
Little League International held the 2026 Australian Championship at Blacktown, New South Wales, from June 3 to 8. Twelve clubs competed across two pools. The top two sides from each pool advanced to the semifinals, with the winners meeting in the Gold Medal Game.
Ryde moved through the week with one loss and carried strong form into the final. They won the championship game 9-3 and secured Australia’s direct-entry berth. Their single loss across the tournament did not cost them when the title was on the line.
Ryde’s Road to Williamsport: 2021 to 2026
This trip took longer than the record shows. Ryde won the 2021 Australian Little League Championship outright and earned the right to represent the country at the LLWS that year. The title was confirmed. The flight never happened.

They returned to the national Gold Medal Game in 2025. Brisbane North threw a complete game shutout and won 6–0, striking out 12 batters across the match. Ryde took the silver medal and watched Brisbane North fly to Pennsylvania instead.
National champions – LLWS blocked
Ryde wins the Australian title, but COVID-19 restrictions cancel all international travel to Williamsport. Title stands, trip cancelled.
Gold Medal Game, silver finish
Ryde reaches the national final but loses 6–0 to Brisbane North via a 12-strikeout complete game shutout. Silver medal only.
Champions – Williamsport bound
Ryde goes 6-1, wins the championship 9-3, and earns Australia’s 12th LLWS berth and the club’s first-ever appearance.
In 2026, they came back a third time and won the championship. Two near misses across five years, one blocked by a pandemic and one lost in the final. Ryde finally makes the trip to Williamsport this August.

Conclusion
Ryde Little League’s journey to Williamsport was years in the making. After winning a national title in 2021 without the chance to travel and falling short in the 2025 final, the club finally secured its first-ever LLWS berth with a championship-winning run in 2026.
The Sydney-based league now becomes Australia’s 12th representative at the Little League World Series. Their reward is a place on youth baseball’s biggest stage, where they will face the world’s best teams in South Williamsport from August 19 to 30.
