2026 LLWS Opening Round Matchups: Full Schedule, Bracket & Game Times

Finally, the wait is over! Little League International announced an open round of matchups for the Little League World Series 2026 on June 10, 2026. Twenty teams, twelve first-round games. Three days of baseball starting August 19 in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

No team chose its opponent. Little League International used a random drawing to set the 2026 bracket. One rule influenced the process: regions that appeared in the 2025 opening play-in games were not placed in those same matchups again this year.

How the 2026 LLWS Bracket Draw Worked

Little League International held random drawings on June 10 to set the bracket. The drawings were not completely open. One specific rule shaped the results.

Draw Rules for 2026

  • Drawings were randomized for all 20 regions across both brackets.
  • Regions that played in the first play-in games in 2025 were excluded from those same spots in 2026.
  • Curacao and Panama hold direct entry and were seeded into Games 9 and 10 on August 21.
  • US bracket and the International bracket were drawn separately to keep the two groups apart until the championship.

Panama and Curacao received direct entry for 2026. Little League International confirmed this on January 20, 2026 as part of a rotational direct entry system. Both teams skip the August 6 to 14 regional window and go straight to Williamsport. They enter the bracket on August 21 against the winners of Games 1 and 2.

What Happens After the Opening Round

The 2026 LLWS uses a double-elimination format in both brackets. Losing one game does not end a team’s tournament. A team needs two losses to go home. Every team at the LLWS plays at least three games.

Win Your First Game

You move to the winner’s bracket and stay there until you lose once. One loss drops you into the loser’s bracket but keeps you alive.

Lose Your First Game

You move to the loser’s bracket. One more loss ends your tournament. Win, and you keep playing until the bracket championship game.

The US bracket runs to its own championship game. The International bracket does the same. Those two bracket champions meet on August 30 at Lamade Stadium. That game airs on ABC. Check the complete LLWS rules guide for the full tournament format breakdown.

Other Events Around the 2026 LLWS
